Focus on the youngest learners, with the specific training and broad education needed to teach the early grades. Coursework is relevant and meaningful, encompassing liberal arts and education theory and practice. Extensive fieldwork and teaching experiences prepare students to guide young children’s learning.
Dual Majors
Students in the Early Childhood Education program are dual majors. They must select one of twelve approved content area majors: African American Studies, Art, Biology, English, History, Integrative STEM Education, Mathematics, Music, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish, and Women’s and Gender Studies.
Certification
Qualify for New Jersey certification in grades P–3.
Early Childhood students are also eligible for K-6 certification with relevant coursework and testing.
