Professional Preparation

Early and sustained clinical experiences—including four semesters of field placements in local schools—ensure graduates are well prepared for the demands of teaching. These classroom experiences are framed by extensive professional development, from Praxis-prep workshops to conferences on topics like literacy integration and working with diverse families.

Urban Education Program

Add an extra year and focus your studies on the urban classroom. This five-year option integrates specialized coursework with progressive fieldwork—from observation to full-time teaching—to reflect the rich cultures and languages of urban schools. Graduates earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as P–3 or K–6 and ESL certifications.

Service and Outreach

Engage directly with schools and communities, driving progress for children, through our extensive partnerships. Tutor a child. Mentor an after-school program. Join a student organization doing amazing work for local schools, from collecting classroom supplies to leading field day activities. Valuable lessons—for children and aspiring teachers—emerge from community engagement.
